It’s that time again.
With 85 days to go before election day, we are still waiting to hear whether Mike Schreiner will be included in this year’s televised Leaders’ debates.
In an effort to provide enough time to review our request, we started the ball rolling in January of this year. We were bounced around to a number of people (it’s not easy to find out who makes these decisions), and then eventually told that we should write in a few months when they would be looking at the debates.
So we wrote in June. And then followed up. And then followed up again. We have yet to receive a response.
The lack of transparency is astonishing – why is it that a decision regarding one of the most high profile events of the provincial election is being made in secret? It’s unfair and goes against the fundamentals of democracy, where voters deserve the opportunity to hear from ALL major parties.
I’m writing today to ask for your help. We are planning to formally launch our campaign to get Mike in the debates tomorrow, but we need as many signatures as possible before we do. Please take a moment to sign our petition. Together we can show the broadcasters what Ontarians already know – that Mike Schreiner should be included in this year’s televised Leaders’ debate.
Thanks for your help. I know together, we can ensure our voices are heard.
