With an intimate glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals’ offices, the film offers insight into the often cruel world of the lives of bullied children.

As teachers, administrators, kids and parents struggle to find answers, Bully examines the dire consequences of bullying through the testimony of strong and courageous youth. Through the power of their stories, the film aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole.”

Positions: Financial Agent – Federal & Financial Agent – Provincial

Renumeration: Green Party of Ontario tax receipt

Start date: ASAP

The role of Financial Agent can be held by one, or two people. The Financial Agent – Federal & Financial Agent – Provincial report to the Executive Board on a generally monthly basis. At the end of the fiscal year (Dec 31^st) this job will require quite a few hours to prepare the return to Elections Canada and/or Elections Ontario. The returns are audited by a licensed accountant. Otherwise during the year the position requires a few hours a week focused on it.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file the annual return with Elections Canada and/or Elections Ontario

• Issue federal tax receipts

• Report provincial donations to the Green Party of Ontario

• Issue cheques for expenses

Position: Returning Officer

Renumeration: $100 Green Party of Ontario tax receipt and a paid membership in the Green Party of Ontario

Start date: To be determined

The Returning Officer reports to the President. Their job is to oversee the voting for a Green Party of Ontario candidate during the nomination contest ending with the nomination meeting. Typically during the contest this job requires 5 – 10 hours per week, and the Returning Officer must be present at the nomination meeting which will require 2 – 3 hours.

Responsibilities:

• Sending out ballots by mail upon request

• Receiving ballots by mail

• Administering and enforcing the nomination contest rules

• Certify the contest winner

• Counting votes at the nomination meeting and supervising the counting (where applicable.)

I’d like to take the time to welcome you to the Barrie Green Party.

After a very successful Annual General Meeting this past Sunday, we are re-energized, and ready to re-engage in dialogue with voters of Barrie on why a Green MP and MPP would be best for Barrie.

In November 2012, our federal candidate-of-record, Erich Jacoby-Hawkins introduced our Green Century Club, and the first members were inducted by Green Party of Canada deputy leader Georges Laraque. At Sunday’s AGM, additional members were inducted by Leader of the Green Party of Ontario Mike Schreiner.

So just what is the Green Century Club?

Roman military units were brokem up into groups of 100, a century. Our goal is to get 100 monthly donors, and 100 volunteers to have a fully funded and fully staffed campaign by 2015.

We’d be more than happy to have you join our Green Century Club! As a monthly donor you help fund us as an association and during an election. As a volunteer, you help out by joining The Executive, and/or helping us out once a month with different volunteer activities.

What is The Executive?

The Executive Board is the governing body of the Barrie Green Party. Up to 17 women and men make decisions for the Association. Currently there are 8 members of the Executive. We have many open positions, and we’d be happy to discuss which roles might fit you best. If you’re interested in this opportunity, contact us!

What is the Barrie Green Party?

The Barrie Green Party is the Electoral District Association of the Green Party of Canada and the Green Party of Ontario in the electoral district of Barrie, which currently shares the same borders as the City of Barrie. It was founded in 2004.

5. Try to live our values. Ecological Wisdom – Take a few minutes to be a better steward. Non-violence – there are better ways than resorting to fists. Social Justice – Perhaps volunteer at the soup kitchen a few hours a month? Sustainability – Ride a bike when the weather is nice, or take public transit. Participatory Democracy – Join Fair Vote Canada to help with the effort to bring in electoral reform. Respect for Diversity – Canada is very lucky to be multicultural. Start a dialogue and make a few friends.

4. Purchase fair trade coffee/tea/hotchocolate. Barrie is a fair trade city, and it gives the people in the third world who make this a fair wage.

3.Remember your reusable bags. I don’t even remember my own when I got shopping, but this one is on my list to help be more sustainable.

2.Power – Hook up power bars and turn them off to eliminate phantom power, and/or switch to a company like BullFrog Power that offers renewable energy options.

We are currently looking for some members who are willing to make an even bigger difference in the community, and to the Green Party, by joining the executive of your local electoral district association! We are looking for dedicated members, that have the time and the commitment, to do certain tasks that need to be completed and to attend our monthly meetings. Some of the possible duties that would be involved, are participating in events and helping out with fundraisers. This would be a great opportunity to further your leadership skills and to work both independently and in a team environment! Show off your true qualities and talents!
