(Barrie) – On the eve of a likely election call, and fresh from her BC riding choice announcement, federal Green Party leader Elizabeth May will be in Barrie this Friday to meet with supporters and the public.
“The people here and the values they hold dear are the very heart of our movement,” said May. “I will be so proud to stand for those values and help to create the change our country needs, starting right here in Barrie.”
“We will be teetering on the edge of an election for this whole session of Parliament,” May added, “so I am happy to announce that past candidate Erich Jacoby-Hawkins has been nominated by the Barrie riding as the candidate for the next federal election.
Jacoby-Hawkins has also been serving on the Green Party of Canada’s Shadow Cabinet as the national critic for Ecological Fiscal Reform.
“Erich has a solid grasp on how saving money and cutting harmful taxes advances a Green agenda. His work on Cabinet has been extremely valuable to me as Leader,” said May.
“We’re very proud to have Erich representing us again in Barrie. The members feel Erich continues to bring class and intelligence to politics when he runs” added riding CEO Peter V. Tretter.
Elizabeth May will be available at two on Friday, September 11th. The VIP ticket-only event will be from 5 – 6:30 pm. A second event from 7 – 9 pm will be open to anyone who wishes to attend. Admission at the door is $10 or free to anyone who renews their membership or joins the party. Both events will be at the Southshore Centre. Tickets and details for both of these events are available on the Association’s website at www.BarrieGreens.ca, or by contacting eri…@barriegreens.ca or 730-7591.
